  • “The workmen not here” Wallis was so disappointed there were no builders to watch, as she loves that so. - Okay here’s the gist....since we had to sell our house due to a huge gross factory moving practically next door, we reevaluated and decided/needed to move closer to my husband’s job. For the last 8 years he’s been commuting 2.5 hours daily so we could live in our lovely old home, but he didn’t want to do that anymore, and I totally understood. - Problem is, I was still planning for another old house and a decent amount of property for me to create another flower garden. Problem problem is, we can’t remotely afford it now that we have to move close to where my husband works, it’s an INSANELY expensive area. - So our next chapter is my least favorite and I’ve cried a lot about it, which is pathetic since it’s over a house...but sometimes I’m pathetic. Needless to say we are moving into a NEW home (one of those cookie cutter ones that they build hundreds of and squeeze together) with a postage size property 😱😱😱😩😩😩🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭 SO...I plan to wallpaper the crap out of it while sobbing into the handfuls of soil I’ll get to work with 👍🏼 - I just keep telling myself, someday there will be an old house again and a large flower garden but for now, you’ll have to make do out of doo doo.   • Well we’ve made it to my parents. Closing day was the most brutal, I think I cried all day. My husband up until that point had been determined that this was all for the best but once he got to the closing and met the buyer, who was very kind about our old house and the work we had done to do it, even he started crying. - It’s been a rough few days. Wallis has started having night terrors, something she never had before. She tells us every day several times a day (even though she adores her grandparents) that she wants to go back to her house. When we took her to the area that we are thinking of buying in, hoping it might bring her some connection she kindly said, “I love it, but can we move my house here?” - It’s funny how many people told me how resilient kids are, but I think I’d argue they’ve not been given the option to express their emotions. I grew up moving my entire life and my parents never checked in to see how I felt about it - I was just told and expected to do, there wasn’t room for how sad it made me so I didn’t talk about it, but we have allowed that space for Wallis, and she has been showing us her heart. Yes, she will eventually regain her ground, but for now we’re giving her lots of cuddles and conversations about this big change in her life. - I feel lost really - I wish I could just close my eyes and be through this time altogether, it’s been too painful, and it’s moved so slow, almost as though time is happy to suspend us here while pushing fast forward on everything else. Better things better things, but for now it’s 3 am night terrors to tend to, and me unable to fall back to sleep. ❤️ #wednesdayswithwallis #3yearsold
  • It has been so difficult for me to wrap my head around that in a few short weeks we will no longer live here. I keep trying to make myself distance my heart, face reality but I can’t seem to do it. - Our first home...we lost one of dogs to cancer here, we brought our first baby home here, and we poured ourselves into the cracks and success of this space and grew from it all, and around it all that to be not this house and not this life is an ending, rather than some new adventurous beginning. We are truly mourning this loss. - I know the reasons behind us selling have been kind of mysterious on here, but they are due to local issues, not personal, which makes it even harder to accept. This was not our choice, and as others have learned, so little is these days when it comes to government and greed. - We have searched and searched for a place to move, but have found nothing. We will be moving in with my parents until we do. We are so blessed that is even an option, as I think we’ll do some healing there and maybe even discover the clarity that is so lacking now through our blurred eyes and burned hopes. - A home is a privilege, and we have lived here as such...only memories now. 💔 #goodbyeoldthing #wewillmissyoualways
  • This was an outtake from our annual Christmas card but I really love it. Andrew turns 37 today 😱 I remember when my older brother turned 37 and I felt relief it wasn’t Andrew, ha! Too late...time is a jerk — but after being married 12 years to this goon, I can also say, time has been good to us. - We have experienced so many highs and lows together and sometimes all that living causes cracks and discontent but nothing heals a bad day like watching Andrew as a father. It gets him out of a lot of pinches (figuratively and literally) and I’m so damn grateful.   • I don’t want to lie to you, this is her pooping window. Yep, just turned 3 but still refuses to poop in anything but a pull-up. She likes to tell me, “mama I poop in the potty when I’m a little bit bigger” and I nod and say, “ok love” because her poop her choice, I don’t mess with that and as long as she’s pooping I’m happy. Also, since she’s home with me 24/7 - I figure we have time. But also also, hopefully “a little bit bigger” doesn’t mean 4, ha!   • Another Christmas birthday down, this year, number 3. Wallis’ birthday was a disaster. Andrew accidentally threw away 99% of the birthday decorations (which I didn’t realize until Christmas morning), I made the banana ice cream party’s banana ice cream too soft, and broke down sobbing in the middle of everyone singing Happy Birthday. - Wallis...she didn’t notice a thing and had the best.time.ever. She was so light, so fun and truly magic to watch. I know, that’s all that matters. To love her, is to love the best of life.   • This is one of my favorite autumn pics of my wee gnome! She was only #11months and I wish I could kiss those grumpy cheeks again. Luckily, she hasn’t fully lost them yet. 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁 Andrew and I nearly bought a piece of land this week but backed out. They wanted too much and we didn’t want it enough. It gave us pause though and how we were rushing to find our new start since finding out we’re having to sell our house. - We feel so much anxiety about it all, but we had a long talk and realized the path to our “new start” is going to be slow, we must first sell our home, then we are going to move in with my parents (I haven’t lived with them since I was 18 😬🤞🏼) and take our time, and consider all the things we never considered 8 years ago when we bought our first home. - With Wallis here, so much of how we look at life has changed. We need to mourn what we’re losing first, before we make any kind of big decisions. And now that we’ve committed to slowing down, I feel more prepared...funny how that happens.
